The approach was unheard of. A luxury aircraft like Japan had never seen before,

with a glamorous polish. STARFLYER’s most noticeable characteristic?

The jet black jet - pun intended! The design, and the resolve to go with a black plane, 

was a huge draw for travel fans. STARFLYER is the airline that makes dreams come true,

with atmosphere and service surpassing the highest expectations. 

My first challenge was Christmas and New Year’s cards. A black Christmas tree would reflect STARFLYER's warm, stylish welcome. Granted, the tree was tiny compared to a jet fuselage;

to my clients, however, it was equally important. Pulling off a Christmas card that integrated black

with the message of Christmas joy was as challenging as the decision to go with an all-black fleet. Happily, the black tree against the matte silver sky was a total success!

My next assignment was STARFLYER’s first original brand, championing a comfortable lifestyle,

at home and onboard. Entrusted with concept enhancement, design, naming and product development, I began by exploring Kita Kyushu - STARFLYER’s home base - for better understanding of the

brand’s origin.

Kita Kyushu’s official blossom is the sunflower. Yellow, symbolizing the sun and its namesake flower, seemed the perfect choice to communicate brand image. Yellow Label, the brand name,

was tweaked from the same source. The STARFLYER brand concept crystallized into a starry vision: Mother Comet... a flight of comfort amidst millions of shimmering shooting stars,

shining light on hopes and dreams. The first product reflected the characteristic color

of the Yellow Label. The postcards featured stars printed on a yellow sky, a connect - the - dots puzzle delivering a message shaped like a constellation, a bit of fun and surprise for both sender and

recipient. 

This design solidified the YELLOW identity, reintroducing the only airline providing stylish flights

for the discerning traveler.
